- After six months, once you’ve made 100 transactions through Amazon Payments, you can apply to upgrade to Tier 2. This means just 3% of your daily processed payments (based on the last 28-days average) is kept in reserve.
- If your Order Defect Rate, which measures how many customer complaints and chargebacks you receive, stays below 1%, you’re eligible to have the 3% reserve fee removed.

Amazon Payment is one of the easiest way to pay, and for good reason, Amazon definitely wants our money, so they’ve made it as easy and as fast as possible. I agree that there are definite benefits to add the Amazon Payment to your website, and to my understanding, even if you already have a payment portal set up, if you add the Amazon Payment option the customer wouldn’t use the other one, so you wouldn’t be paying for both services. I agree that Amazon is one of the most well-known and trusted ways to make online store payments. It gives customers a sense of comfort and knows that they have Amazon to fall back on if there is an issue. That being said, I am not a fan of Amazon at all. I prefer using PayPal as a way to receive payment. I have used Amazon in the past, but this last year I stopped using them. Since COVID and fake Amazon seller accounts were created, they started doing zoom meetings to ensure you are who you claim to be. At least they were; I do not know if that is still being implemented. Amazon is straightforward to use when you checkout. If you have Shopify, I will hesitate to link your store to your Amazon store. I have friends who sell on Amazon plus have multiple websites, and they say it will not help drive your website sales up if they are connected.
